Derana Music Video awards 2007 created a landmark in the Sri Lankan music industry being the first of its kind. It set standards in mega events with its production values, stage settings, lighting and live performances. The Top 10 Sri Lankan chart busting artists gave some mind blowing acts seem first time by the audience in that scale. The theme song which featured all these artists became the No 1 single in many charts. The award became a platform to honor young and talented technicians who took the centre stage with the popular artists for the very first time. 17 technical awards and one popular award (chosen through a SMS campaign lasting 3 months) were given away that night and all these videos all still remain landmarks in Video productions.
